Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract To Hire Make an immediate impact by supporting secondary students with diverse learning needs at a specialized psychiatric residential treatment facility. This full-time, in-person position offers a rewarding opportunity to foster growth for students in grades 6-12 as they work toward transitioning back to traditional school environments. The setting provides a supportive atmosphere, with a strong team of educators and additional adult support to ensure small group instruction and individualized attention.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
Valid certification as a Special Education Teacher Experience working with students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD), Other Health Impairments (OHI), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Comfort with resource room models and grouping strategies for effective instruction Strong communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and families Passion for supporting students' social, emotional, and academic development
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a resource caseload of approximately 15 students, all secondary level (grades 6-12) Design, deliver, and adapt instructional activities to students' individual education plans Utilize flexible grouping to maximize learning outcomes Work alongside a team of adults, maintaining a 1 teacher + 1 adult per 4 students ratio Build supportive relationships that empower students to achieve readiness for reintegration into traditional school settings Participate actively in meetings, planning, and professional development opportunities This contract-to-hire position is an excellent path to a meaningful, long-term career in special education within a nurturing and dynamic environment.
