Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Lake City Early Childhood Center. The ideal candidate will work in a self-contained classroom, providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. This role requires a deep understanding of special education practices and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and nurturing learning environment that promotes the academic, social, and emotional growth of each student. Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student. Create a positive and structured classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation. Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional methods accordingly to ensure academic success. Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and support staff to provide comprehensive services to students. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavioral issues, and strategies for support at home. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices in special education. Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and attendance as required by school policies and regulations. Foster a safe and respectful classroom culture that promotes inclusivity and acceptance among all students. Support students in developing social skills and independence through structured activities and interventions. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid state teaching certification in Special Education. Experience working with children with special needs, preferably in a self-contained classroom setting. Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with diverse learning needs. Knowledge of current educational technology and resources to enhance learning experiences. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about advancements in special education.
