Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a lasting difference in the lives of students with visual impairments by bringing your expertise to a dedicated educational setting. This contract opportunity focuses on supporting students as a Visually Impaired (VI) Teacher for a role beginning as soon as possible through May 2027. The position spans 3-4 days each week for a total of 22.5-30 hours, working exclusively onsite to provide hands-on teaching and support.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid and active South Carolina VI (Visually Impaired) teaching certification required Previous teaching experience with visually impaired students preferred Demonstrated ability to adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet diverse student needs Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible classroom environment
Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in compliance with their individualized education plans (IEPs) Assess, monitor, and document student progress; adjust instructional techniques as needed Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success Provide guidance and resources for general education teachers to support students with visual impairments Maintain accurate records and ensure ongoing compliance with local and state educational requirements This is an onsite position, requiring presence at the assigned location for all scheduled teaching days.
