Job Description

Make a meaningful impact assisting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a vibrant, supportive educational environment for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, contract opportunity provides the chance to work collaboratively with school professionals to support students access to curriculum and communication. Youll serve across multiple campuses in the Chattanooga area, with a caseload and age group that will be tailored as district numbers are finalized. The position involves 35 hours per week during the regular school schedule, running from August 5, 2026 through May 19, 2027.
Qualifications:
Active Department of Education certification required Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a school setting is highly valued Strong understanding of communication modalities, auditory training, and academic strategies for DHH students Proven ability to collaborate with general education teachers, staff, and families Commitment to fostering a welcoming, accessible, and encouraging classroom environment Completion of required fingerprinting prior to starting
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted instructional support and accommodations for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across assigned school sites Consult and collaborate with educational teams, providing expertise and resources Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs to support individual growth and success Adapt curriculum and provide direct instruction using diverse communication methods Advocate for student access, participation, and inclusion in academic and extracurricular activities This contract role offers the rewarding experience of shaping learning outcomes and life skills for students who need it most.
