Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting a first-grade student as a Special Education Teacher on a contract basis. This opportunity focuses on providing compensatory services to a non-verbal student who requires individualized educational support in their home environment. As the sole educator on this caseload, you'll play an essential role in addressing unique learning and behavioral needs, including self-injurious behaviors, using creative and compassionate teaching methods.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification Experience working with students with significant communication needs, preferably non-verbal learners Previous involvement with self-injurious or challenging behaviors and effective de-escalation techniques Familiarity with IEP development and implementation Strong collaboration and communication skills to engage with families, caregivers, and any interdisciplinary team members Flexibility regarding hours, term length, and location, as these will be confirmed based on the student's needs Ability and willingness to provide services in the student's home environment
Role Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted compensatory educational services to support the student's individual learning goals Implement evidence-based strategies appropriate for students with non-verbal communication needs Utilize positive behavioral interventions to decrease self-injurious behaviors and ensure student safety Maintain detailed records of services provided and student progress Collaborate with caregivers and related service providers to facilitate holistic support Adjust teaching approaches based on student progress and family feedback If applicable, adapt services for virtual delivery based on final assignment structure Your expertise can transform a child's educational experience.
