Description:
Salish Sea Deaf School (SSDS) is now accepting applications for 2 teaching positions for our preschool and middle school.
Minimum Requirements:
Degree in Deaf Education or Special Education Washington Standard or Provisional Teaching Licensure MUST be fluent in expressive and receptive American Sign Language (ASL) Fluent communication in standard written English Familiar with
IEPs Desirable Qualifications:
Planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills Personal and professional judgment Experience working with students with diverse needs (including cogntive, physical, or developmental)
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement lesson plans that ensure and maximize diverse academic, language and social needs per IEP as well as Common Core State Standards. Collaboratively write a summary of each student's present levels (PLAAFPs) and goals. Work positively and collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community. Follow a system of continuous evaluation and data collection. Maintain certification (training, workshop, clock hours) Adhere to procedures that create and maintain organized and safe facilities. Assume responsibility for supervising and establishing proper expectations for students on and off campus during school hours. Establish and maintain effective, positive, and appropriate classroom management procedures. Remain current on Deaf Education/Special Education theories, methods, and innovative approaches. Uphold and promote the school's vision and philosophy.
