01/13/2026 Description of Position In the Family Enrichment Center (FEC), substitute teachers will work on an "as needed" basis, and will assume the responsibilities and duties of teachers or master teachers. They will be responsible for maintaining a safe and stimulating educational environment, following the classrooms' daily schedule, implementing lesson plans, responding to children's individual needs, record keeping, and housekeeping duties. They will also model, guide and oversee teaching assistants and students, as well as communicate daily with parents. This is an "on call" position and does not guarantee regular hours. Minimum Expectations & Requirements
Twelve (12) credit hours of Early Childhood Education or Child Development courses
Minimum of 2 years experience working with children birth through age 5 or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to meet the developmental needs of children birth through age 5 in a nurturing and supportive manner
Knowledge and experience developing hands-on activities, encouraging problem-solving, and promoting a positive learning atmosphere in the classroom
Experience establishing successful relationships with parents
Knowledge of, and respect for, children's individual differences and learning styles
Good oral and written communication skills Preferred Skills & Abilities
Preferred expectation of Associate's degree or Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
Work experience in a community college/higher education work environment.
