Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Empower students and make a meaningful difference in the classroom by supporting learners in specialized settings. This contract position offers the chance to work closely with students in lower teacher-to-pupil ratio classes, many of whom have autism or related disabilities and display a wide range of communication styles and behaviors. This role is ideal for experienced paraprofessionals who thrive in dynamic environments and are skilled at understanding IEPs and employing positive behavioral strategies.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
One of the following: Associate's Degree, ParaPro assessment score of 450 or above, or completion of at least 48 college credit hours (required) Prior experience working in classroom settings, especially with students with autism or behavioral needs Ability to interpret IEPs and implement individualized support plans Preferred but not required: CPI or de-escalation training, significant behavior management experience, CPR certification Comfortable working with students who may demonstrate challenging behaviors, including aggression
Responsibilities:
Provide daily classroom support for students, enhancing educational and behavioral outcomes Assist teachers with instruction, supervision, and classroom management Implement individualized behavioral and academic strategies as outlined in IEPs Foster a safe, positive classroom environment while employing de-escalation techniques as needed Maintain confidentiality and comply with all district guidelines, including required credentialing (drug test, fingerprints, background check)
