General responsibilities: Ensure that children are properly supervised at all times while also assisting the Lead Teacher with lesson planning, classroom maintenance, activities, and child documentation.
Specific duties:
Ensure that children are properly supervised at all times
Ensure that the assigned classroom is properly cleaned and maintained
Assist the Lead Teacher with classroom maintenance, activities, supervision, and child documentation (enrollment, transportation, child profiles, etc).
Assist in promoting healthy emotional, social, intellectual, creative, and physical development of each child.
Assist children in establishing healthy habits of toileting (when applicable) and personal hygiene
Maintain friendly and respectful relationships with parents and other staff
Comply with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and Step Up to Quality rules and regulations
Comply with the All About the Kids Academy Academy Employee Handbook; maintain consistent attendance and punctuality, comply with all reasonable directives from teaching and administrative staff, ensure that any potential absence or tardiness is reported to an administrator as soon as possible, maintain a professional conduct and appearance at all times, etc (see RCA employee handbook for more information).
Comply with The Ohio Department of Education Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) rules and regulations Additional information and requirements:
Education :
high school diploma (required), approved higher education childcare related courses (preferred)
Experience :
basic knowledge of proper childcare methods (previous child care experience preferred), training in Step Up to Quality approved courses, and knowledge of Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and Step Up to Quality rules and regulations, trained in; first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), management of communicable disease, and child abuse recognition and prevention (preferred) through Ohio Department of Job and Family Services approved courses (preferred). Other skills : ability to work with initiative, communicate effectively, respond to emergency situations, meticulously sanitize and organize designated areas, supervise groups of children independently when necessary, maintain records of child progress, routines, and interests, and maintain child paperwork, enrollment, and transportation documentation (if applicable).
