Job Description

Classroom Aide Starting Mid-August for the 2026-2027 school year Part time/ Part year summer off
Classroom Aide Duties:
Projects a positive and courteous attitude and image to families, children, and the community. Provides support and assistance in the classroom, maintains confidentiality at all times, and possesses strong communication and organization skills. Responsible for the health and safety of the assigned children in the classroom and outdoors as needed. Provide breaks for the teacher and assistant teacher. Uses positive discipline with assigned children following the Head Start Discipline Policy. Follows all Wisconsin Day Care Licensing Regulations. Complies with State Statutes and Head Start Personnel Polices. Maintains confidentiality at all times, during work hours and in the community. Attends Head Start-provided in-services and participates in at least 15 hours of continuing education opportunities per program year. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Effective verbal and written communication skills. Basic First Aid and Infant/Child CPR, Shaken Baby (training can be provided if needed) Must be able to work with adults, children, and people with varied backgrounds and beliefs. Obtain a pre-employment fingerprinting, background check, physical, drug screen and TB screen. Requires regular kneeling, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to the needs of the children. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work irregular hours occasionally.

License/Certification:
Driver's License (Required) Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred or willingness to take required classes according to Daycare Licensing).
Pay:
$13.10 - $16.08 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 28.0 per week Application Question(s): We follow the school districts schedule. Our staff have summers off, during which time they collect unemployment. Would this be okay for you? This position would require you to take the Intro to the Childcare Profession on the WI Registry. The course would be done virtually; reimbursement may not be available. Would you be willing to take this course if you have not already? The hours for the position would be around 8am-3pm M-F with occasional evening hours. Would this schedule work for you?
