Your Responsibilities:
You'll be giving personalized one-on-one tutoring sessions. Develop and implement customized lesson plans that meet each student's unique learning needs and goals. Assist students with their homework, test prep and share good study techniques. Track student progress and send regular feedback to parents through session reports (template provided).
What We're Looking For:
ONLY APPLICANTS WHO MEET ALL REQUIREMENTS BELOW WILL BE CONSIDERED
This position is for tutoring students through the Arkansas LEARNS Act's Literacy Grant. As an approved State vendor, the Arkansas Department of Education determines tutor qualification requirements. Thus, the following criteria is mandatory. You MUST have had exposure to the Science of Reading curriculum (proof is required). The Science of Reading is an actual certification, and as such, prior teaching experience or other certifications that show competence in literacy tutoring or teaching cannot be considered as a substitute. Please see the following for more information: https://dese.ade.arkansas.gov/Offices/learning-services/rise-arkansas/prescribed-pathway-credentials You MUST also have at least ONE of the following: 1) A valid teaching certificate in elementary education or reading, OR 2) A baccalaureate degree in education, English, or another subject area indicative of expertise in reading and literacy, OR 3) A graduate degree in English or another subject area indicative of expertise in reading and literacy A minimum of two years of tutoring or teaching experience. Experience with special needs is a big plus, but not required. Must live or work within an easy commutable distance from the Fayetteville and Elkins, Arkansas areas. You're organized, on time, and can show you're responsive and reliable. A background check, at applicant's expense may be required.
