Function The City of Ankeny is currently seeking individuals to fill our 2026-2027 fall and winter recreation positions with the Parks and Recreation Department. The recreation staff performs various part-time duties including gym supervision, youth and adult officiating, and program instruction/assistance. Employees will provide support to individuals and groups utilizing the Ankeny School District facilities, promote good sportsmanship and safety during sporting events, and display leadership and assistance during programs. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Gym Supervision:
$11.75 per hour. Supervise groups and individuals renting school gymnasiums Ensure that scheduling time limits are adhered to for each group using facilities Monitor all equipment and adjust basketball/volleyball/pickleball nets accordingly Secure all equipment and facilities at the end of the evening Youth and Adult Officials (soccer/basketball/volleyball) $12.25/$14.25/$17.25 per hour depending on certification Officiate youth and adult games accurately and fairly based on good knowledge of the sport and rules Promote good sportsmanship at all times Ensure a safe environment for all participants during games Program Instructor/Assistant (dance/art/music) $11 .75/$12.75/$15.25 per hour depending on certification Instruct and/or assist with programs as assigned Monitor attendance and ensure a safe environment for participants Promote recreation programs and facilitate participant growth and learning Entry Requirements and Skills Must be at least 14 years of age. Sports knowledge and experience preferred but not required. Will train officials. Must be available on weeknights and weekends. Able to work nights/weekends as assigned
