Position Summary The Vocational Instructor provides direct instruction and support to participants enrolled in the Tuson J's Vocational Program. This position delivers classroom, community-based, and work-based learning experiences that help adults with developmental disabilities develop employment skills, increase independence, and prepare for competitive integrated employment.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about teaching and community inclusion. The instructor is responsible for creating a positive, engaging, respectful, and supportive learning environment while helping participants develop skills that will prepare them for future employment and greater independence. Essential Responsibilities Follow the established PTE curriculum, lesson plans, activities, and program schedule. Teach lessons in an engaging and accessible manner based on participant abilities and learning needs. Provide additional explanation, prompting, modeling, or support when participants need assistance. Support participants during community outings, career exploration, and work-based learning experiences. Communicate participant progress and concerns with program leadership. Monitor participant progress and complete required daily documentation. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and participant confidentiality. Participate in staff meetings, training, planning, and program activities as required. Position Requirements Must be able to fulfill physical duties of job including: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist participants throughout the day. Ability to accompany participants during community outings and work experiences. Ability to lift to 25 pounds. Driving Tucson J vehicles Qualifications Must be 18 years of age Driver's License Required Class one fingerprint certification (can be obtained after hire) First Aid & CPR certification (can be obtained after hire) Article 9 training (can be obtained after hire) High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred. Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills. Ability to work in classroom and community settings.
