DHM Melvin Engineering

CAD Designer

Job Description

About DHM At DHM, we believe our work is more than just projects and plans — it's a calling. Our purpose is to creatively solve the infrastructure needs of our clients, encourage the families we touch, and be wise stewards of the resources entrusted to us by God. Position Overview As a Designer, you will collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop detailed construction plans and technical drawings for infrastructure projects. Your work will focus on transforming engineering sketches and data into high-quality digital models and documents. This role intersects creative problem-solving and technical precision, ensuring projects like roads, buildings, and water systems are both functional and safe. Key Responsibilities Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation. Assist in the design of site layouts, grading plans, drainage systems, and utility networks. Work closely with engineers to refine designs based on calculations, environmental constraints, and local building codes. Incorporate topographical surveys, GIS data, and soil reports into active design files. Review drawings for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with industry standards before they are sent for permits or construction. Foster collaboration within the Company, creating a supportive and high-performing environment. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, ensuring communication is professional, timely, and aligned with company values. Assist with specialized projects as requested. Promote a culture of stewardship, ensuring that time, resources, and relationships are managed wisely and in alignment with our purpose. Collaborate with leadership on resource planning, workload forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Contribute to proposals and business development, helping expand opportunities for the Administrative Division and the company as a whole. Live out our core values daily — giving big, going the extra mile, leading with wisdom, and building genuine relationships that make our workplace a family. Qualifications Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or a related field with 2-5 years of experience. Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Experience with Revit or Bluebeam is preferred. A strong understanding of civil engineering principles (grading, earthwork, utility piping, etc.) Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills. Commitment to living out DHM's purpose, core focus, and core values in every aspect of work.
