Staff Engineer (EIT): Geotechnical Engineering | Construction Materials TestingDirect HireGlen Allen, VA Position OverviewSeeking an Engineer in Training (EIT) to support geotechnical engineering services and construction materials testing projects throughout Central Virginia. This position works closely with licensed professional engineers, project managers, and field technicians on both public and private sector projects. The EIT role is designed for a motivated early-career engineer who wants hands-on exposure to field operations, laboratory testing, engineering analysis, report preparation, and client coordination while progressing toward Professional Engineer licensure. ResponsibilitiesSupport geotechnical engineering investigations including subsurface explorations and soil evaluationsPerform and observe field testing for soils, concrete, and masonryAssist with special inspections and third-party inspection servicesReview field reports, test data, and laboratory results for accuracy and completenessPrepare engineering calculations, technical memoranda, and draft reports under PE supervisionCoordinate with field technicians, laboratory staff, project managers, and clientsAssist with project scheduling, documentation, and quality controlComply with company procedures, safety requirements, and professional standards QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related engineering disciplineEngineer In Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframeEntry-level to three years of relevant engineering or construction-related experienceValid driver's license with a positive driving recordAbility to perform field work and lift materials up to 50 pounds as neededProficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel Preferred QualificationsPrior experience in geotechnical engineering or construction materials testingFamiliarity with laboratory and field testing proceduresExposure to construction plans, specifications, and technical reportsExperience working on active construction sites
