Job Overview Bowman is a leading manufacturer of American-made XRF systems used worldwide for coating thickness measurement and elemental analysis. Our instruments support high-tech industries—from electronics to semiconductors—by integrating precision mechanics, poly-capillary optics, motion control, and advanced software. We are seeking a motivated Engineering Technician who enjoys building, troubleshooting, and optimizing sophisticated analytical equipment in a fast-paced, innovative manufacturing environment Position Summary The Engineering Technician will work closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to build, test, troubleshoot, and support precision instrumentation and automated systems. This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working with their hands, and contributing to new product development. Responsibilities
Assemble precision mechanical and electromechanical equipment from engineering drawings and CAD models.
Install, wire, and test electrical components including motors, sensors, switches, power supplies, and control systems.
Assist engineers with prototype builds and engineering changes.
Perform functional testing, calibration, and validation of equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and motion control systems.
Document test results, build procedures, and assembly improvements.
Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Support equipment installation, service, and customer demonstrations when required.
Maintain an organized laboratory and assembly area.
Recommend improvements to product design and manufacturing processes. Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
2+ years of experience assembling or troubleshooting industrial, automation, or laboratory equipment.
Ability to read mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly documentation.
Experience using hand tools, precision measuring equipment, and common shop equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualification s Experience with one or more of the following:
Precision motion systems
Linear stages and servo motors
Pneumatics and vacuum systems
DAQ hardware and software
Semiconductor equipment
Cleanroom assembly
Optical alignment
XRF, metrology, or analytical instrumentation
Soldering and cable fabrication
SolidWorks or other CAD software
Basic machining using mills, lathes, or drill presses Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, bend, and work at benches for extended periods.
