This position oversees process development, continuous improvement initiatives, machining optimization, capital projects, tooling strategies, and production support activities within a precision machine shop environment specializing in gray iron, ductile iron, aluminum, and brass components. Leadership & Management Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers, Process Engineers, and Engineering Technicians. Establish departmental goals, priorities, and performance metrics aligned with company objectives. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Sales teams to support production and customer requirements. Manage engineering resources, project timelines, and capital expenditure budgets. Manufacturing Process Development Develop and improve manufacturing processes, methods, tooling, fixturing, and work instructions for CNC machining operations. Support machining operations including CNC turning, milling, drilling, tapping, boring, and secondary finishing processes. Establish process standards to ensure repeatability, capability, and quality performance. Analyze manufacturing workflows and implement process improvements that increase throughput and reduce costs. Lead manufacturing readiness reviews for new product launches and production transfers. CNC Programming & Tooling Oversee CNC programming strategies and machining process optimization. Support tooling selection for cast gray iron, ductile iron, aluminum, and brass applications. Drive cycle time reductions through tooling improvements, fixture optimization, and process enhancements. Collaborate with machine tool suppliers and cutting tool manufacturers to identify productivity improvements. Continuous Improvement Lead Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives. Facilitate Kaizen events, value stream mapping, root cause analysis, and waste reduction projects. Utilize statistical analysis and data-driven decision-making to improve manufacturing performance. Develop KPIs related to OEE, scrap, tooling costs, machine utilization, productivity, and labor efficiency. Quality & Compliance Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards. Support corrective and preventive action activities using structured problem-solving methodologies. Ensure process documentation, PFMEAs, control plans, and work instructions remain current and effective. Participate in customer audits, quality reviews, and technical discussions as needed. Capital Equipment & Technology Evaluate, recommend, and implement capital equipment investments. Lead machine installation, commissioning, process validation, and production qualification activities
