Job Description

Manufacturing Project Engineer —
CAD, Estimating & Machining Compensation:
$80,000-$85,000 per year. An additional listing also notes a range of 70,000-80,000.
Schedule:
1st Shift, Monday-Thursday, 6:00 AM-4:30
PM Location:
Rock Hill, SC Day in the life At 6:00 AM your day begins on the shop floor in Rock Hill, SC. Coffee in hand, you open a new project file, review customer specifications, and turn requirements into precise CAD models and technical prints. You walk a few steps to the production area to validate manufacturability with machinists and fellow engineers, then return to your desk to refine dimensions and tolerances. By mid-morning, you're supporting an estimate for a new job. You analyze scope, materials, and process steps, capturing assumptions and risks while balancing cost and quality. After lunch, you roll up your sleeves for hands-on work—light manual machining to validate a prototype concept—before documenting results and next steps in Microsoft Excel, drafting a brief in Word, and sharing updates via Outlook. As the afternoon progresses, you huddle with cross‑functional teammates to streamline a setup, improve a process, and confirm the project plan. You close the day on the floor, ensuring what's on paper translates to what's being built. This is an engineering role where you split time between the desk and the shop and enjoy both. About American Roller Company Since 1938, American Roller Company has led the way in industrial rollers and coatings. Guided by the American Roller Way, we put safety, innovation, quality, and continuous improvement first. Our people are empowered to drive customer success with cutting‑edge solutions for the rubber and polymer industries. With multiple facilities across the United States, we're growing and adding skilled team members. What you'll tackle Create and interpret CAD drawings and detailed technical prints. Support estimating activities for jobs and capital projects. Partner closely with production and engineering to confirm accuracy and feasibility. Perform manual machining tasks to support prototypes and project work. Use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for documentation, reporting, and communication. Collaborate to improve processes and boost project efficiency. Stay actively engaged on the shop floor—this is a hands‑on engineering position. What you bring Experience with CAD software and reading/creating technical drawings. Background in manufacturing, machining, or another hands‑on environment. Estimating or cost analysis experience (a plus). Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Enthusiasm for being hands‑on in a production setting. Clear communication and a team‑first mindset. Ready to blend design, problem‑solving, and hands‑on execution? Apply to join our Rock Hill team.
