The Remanufacturing Technician is a hands-on role that supports the first stages of the remanufacturing process: disassembling incoming turbocharger cores, cleaning and preparing component surfaces by sandblasting and polishing, machining housings and components on a lathe, mill, and honing machine, balancing turbine and compressor wheel assemblies, and applying paint and protective coatings to finished parts. Technicians are trained across all five areas and rotate as production requires, building a complete understanding of how a turbocharger is taken apart, restored, and finished. This shop-floor position uses hand tools, pneumatic and electric power tools, blast cabinets, polishing equipment, machine tools, balancing equipment, and spray equipment. Technicians work from daily work orders, inspect parts at each step for damage or defects, follow written procedures and safety rules, and keep their stations clean and organized. The role suits someone with general automotive or mechanical experience who wants to learn a skilled trade in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities Teardown:

disassemble turbocharger cores using impact tools, presses, and pullers; separate housings, shafts, wheels, and hardware; sort components as reusable or scrap and route them to the next process.

Sandblasting and polishing:

inspect parts for cracks or damage; blast all surfaces in the sandblasting cabinet to remove rust, carbon, and residue; polish and finish surfaces as required; re-inspect parts and log work.

Machining:

set up and operate a lathe, mill, and honing machine to restore housing and components to specification; measure parts with basic precision instruments; keep machines clear of dirt and notify management of any potential damage.

Wheel balancing:

set up turbine and compressor wheel assemblies on the balancing machine, run the balance cycle, make corrections, and verify the assembly is within tolerance before it moves to assembly.

Paint:

apply paint and coatings with spray equipment to a consistent, defect-free finish; keep paint on the correct surfaces and off unauthorized surfaces. Work from the daily production board; move completed carts to the next staging area and record completion at the kiosk. Operate and care for power tools, blast equipment, polishing equipment, machine tools, balancing equipment, and spray equipment; perform basic operator maintenance and report equipment problems. Follow all safety requirements, including eye, hearing, and respiratory protection, and keep the work area clean and organized. Meet daily production and quality expectations and communicate issues to the area lead. Skills and Requirements General automotive or mechanical knowledge: familiarity with engine components, fasteners, and how mechanical assemblies come apart and go together. Experience using hand tools and power tools such as impact wrenches, drills, grinders, presses, and air tools. Willingness to learn and be trained in teardown, sandblasting, polishing, machining, wheel balancing, and painting, and to rotate between areas as needed. Comfortable working to measurements and tolerances; machining or machine shop experience is a plus but not required. Attention to detail; able to spot cracks, damage, residue, and defects. Able to stand for a full shift, perform repetitive work, and lift up to 50 pounds. Dependable attendance and a positive, team-oriented attitude. Automotive, diesel, or related technical training is a plus but not required.

Pay:

$17.00 - $18.00 per hour
