This is an opportunity for a hands-on engineer to own marine piping systems from initial design through production and final as-built documentation. The Marine Piping Engineer will design, route, and optimize onboard fluid systems while serving as a technical connection between engineering, vendors, project leadership, and shipyard production teams. Benefits and Compensation Competitive base salary based on experience Medical, dental, and vision insurance Retirement savings plan Paid time off and company holidays Stable, long-term shipbuilding and vessel repair projects Exposure to complex new-build and repair programs Opportunity to work directly with production, vendors, owners, and classification representatives Career growth within an established marine organization Hands-on engineering environment with visible project impact Requirements & Qualifications Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline 3-7 years of experience in ship design, ship construction, marine engineering, or comparable industrial piping design Experience designing and routing piping or onboard fluid systems Proficiency with AutoCAD Experience with ShipConstructor or comparable 3D design software Working knowledge of Navisworks Understanding of fluid dynamics, material and equipment selection, pressure calculations, and pipe support design Familiarity with ABS, USCG, Lloyd's Register, or similar maritime standards Ability to work on-site in an office, shipyard, and onboard vessel environment Ability to climb ladders, complete ship checks, and safely navigate active production areas Must Haves Develop piping diagrams, calculations, technical specifications, design changes, and equipment selections for assigned vessel systems Route piping and create or review production-ready isometric spool drawings Translate engineering designs into practical fabrication and installation strategies Coordinate OEM and vendor scopes, technical information, and equipment interfaces Review bills of material and assist with material identification and tracking Verify delivered equipment against approved vendor documentation and cut sheets Resolve piping clashes and installation issues directly with shipyard production teams Incorporate field changes and vendor updates into final design and as-built documentation Interface with project management, vessel owners, vendors, production teams, and classification representatives Preferred Background & Skills Shipyard, naval architecture, defense shipbuilding, or marine engineering experience Experience supporting new vessel construction or major vessel repair projects Knowledge of fuel, ballast, bilge, cooling water, fire protection, hydraulic, compressed air, or sanitary systems Experience managing engineering change-control processes Familiarity with equipment maker lists and vendor-document management Experience supporting pipefitters, welders, supervisors, and other production personnel Strong understanding of constructability in tight vessel spaces Practical, hands-on approach to engineering and problem-solving
