Based on qualifications and experience Position Summary Phoenix Labor Group is recruiting an experienced Maritime Structure and Outfitting Lead for a shipyard client. This position leads the design and coordination of vessel structural and outfitting systems, supervises design personnel, and ensures deliverables are accurate, buildable, compliant, and issued in time to support production. Key Responsibilities Lead structural and outfitting design activities across vessel construction projects. Direct, review, and coordinate 2D and 3D drawings, models, production packages, and design deliverables. Supervise, mentor, and assign work to designers while monitoring quality, priorities, and deadlines. Coordinate with engineering, production, purchasing, and project management to resolve design and constructability issues. Ensure designs meet project specifications, shipyard production needs, and applicable ABS, USCG, and other maritime requirements. Review hull structure and outfitting arrangements for fabrication methods, access, installation, and production efficiency. Support design reviews, technical issue resolution, and field changes throughout construction. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent directly relevant experience. Eight to ten years of ship design experience. Strong knowledge of hull structure, vessel outfitting systems, shipyard fabrication, and constructability. Experience leading or mentoring designers; supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, and Navisworks. Knowledge of maritime classification and regulatory requirements, including ABS and USCG rules. Strong communication, leadership, organization, and cross-functional coordination skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting vessel construction from detailed design through production and delivery. Experience reviewing production drawings and resolving design conflicts in an active shipyard. Work Environment and Physical Requirements This role may require work in office, shipyard, fabrication, waterfront, and onboard-vessel environments. Depending on the assignment, the employee may need to stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs or ladders, access confined or elevated work areas, perform ship checks, and carry work-related tools or equipment. Required personal protective equipment may include a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, gloves, hearing protection, fall protection, and respiratory protection.
