Our projects include pump skids, booster systems, chemical feed systems, filtration skids, heat exchanger packages, water transfer systems, and other custom-engineered equipment built to customer specifications. We are seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to develop custom-engineered solutions from concept through startup. This role is responsible for system design, P&ID development, equipment specification, project execution, and technical oversight. The Mechanical Systems Engineer serves as the technical lead for projects, translating customer requirements into complete system designs and working closely with Mechanical Design Engineers and production personnel to ensure successful project execution. Responsibilities Develop system designs based on customer requirements and project specifications. Create and maintain P&IDs for custom process and pumping systems. Specify pumps, valves, instrumentation, piping components, and process equipment. Develop equipment layouts and overall system architecture. Perform engineering calculations related to fluid handling and system performance. Review customer specifications and develop practical, cost-effective solutions. Manage engineering aspects of multiple projects, including schedules, deliverables, and coordination with customers, project managers, and production personnel. Provide technical direction to Mechanical Design Engineers throughout the design process. Support equipment testing, troubleshooting, startup, and commissioning activities. Maintain engineering standards and support continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline. 3-5 years of experience designing industrial equipment, pump systems, process piping, or skid-mounted systems. Experience developing and interpreting P&IDs. Knowledge of pumps, valves, instrumentation, fluid handling systems, and process equipment. Familiarity with ASME, ANSI, and applicable industry standards. Strong communication, organization, and project management skills. Ability to manage projects from concept through fabrication, testing, and startup. Experience with water treatment systems, chemical feed systems, filtration systems, booster systems, or similar process equipment is preferred. Why S&S?
