OVERVIEW

In short, this engineer acts as the lead designer and coordinator for a vehicle's 12-volt and 48-volt electrical power systems—the underlying network that supplies electricity to everything from headlights and dashboards to advanced automated driving features. The daily work breaks down into four main areas:

    Power Architecture Design:

    Deciding how power flows through the vehicle and sizing the electrical hardware (12V/48V) to ensure all components get the energy they need safely and efficiently.

      System Requirements:

      Writing clear technical guidelines so suppliers and component teams know exactly how their parts must interact with the main power grid.

      • Functional Safety (ISO 26262): Designing backup plans and safety measures so critical systems won't lose power or fail while the vehicle is being driven.
      Cross-Team Coordination:

      Working with software, hardware, and factory teams to make sure all parts are tested, fit into the vehicle, and work together seamlessly. Key Responsibilities

        PowerNet Architecture Design:

        Develop, adapt, and optimize 12V and 48V power supply hardware architectures and power distribution concepts to meet vehicle program demands.

          Systems Engineering Requirements:

          Translate high-level vehicle requirements and use cases into functional hardware architecture specs, cascading them to individual components and sub-systems.

          • Functional Safety (ISO 26262): Implement functional safety disciplines across the power net architecture to mitigate operational risks and support vehicle compliance.
          Cross-Functional Integration:

          Interface with power supply control teams, component engineers, and Tier-1 suppliers to assist in developing, validating, and packaging power hardware.

            Vehicle Integration Support:

            Collaborate across engineering domains to integrate low-voltage power systems into the broader vehicle architecture. Required Qualifications

              Education:

              Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.

                Experience:

                3+ years of hands-on experience in the design, analysis, sizing, and verification of low-voltage automotive electrical systems (12V and/or 48V).

                  Systems Engineering:

                  Demonstrated proficiency applying systems engineering frameworks to electrical or electronic systems.

                    Functional Safety:

                    Practical experience applying

                    ISO 26262

                    functional safety standards within an automotive environment.

                      AI & Analytical Tools:

                      Ability to leverage AI tools and methods for technical analysis, system optimization, or issue resolution. Preferred Qualifications

                      • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in an engineering discipline.
                      • 5+ years of experience with complex vehicle electrical architectures and 12V/48V power distribution.
                      • Experience utilizing engineering software such as MATLAB/Simulink, requirements tools like Jama, and task management systems like Jira.
                      • Familiarity with global product development systems, lifecycle execution frameworks, and standard automotive communication protocols.
                      • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills for interfacing with cross-functional technical teams and external stakeholders.
