Sr. Accountant This position is onsite at our Santa Monica location. Relocation expenses are not provided. What You'll Do The Senior Accountant is a key individual contributor within the Financial Operations & Investments team, reporting directly to the Controller, Financial Operations. This role is responsible for a broad range of accounting, financial reporting, investment administration, and operational responsibilities supporting the Family Office and its Principals. Working across a complex portfolio of entities, you will independently own assigned accounting processes and financial workstreams from start to finish while partnering closely with the Controllers and broader Financial Operations & Investments team. You will also interact directly with colleagues across the organization and coordinate with banks, investment managers, insurance providers, tax professionals, legal counsel, and other external service providers. Success in this role requires strong technical accounting fundamentals as well as exceptional organization, follow-through, and attention to detail. You will be expected to maintain accurate and well-organized financial records, proactively identify and resolve issues, document key processes and institutional knowledge, and ensure assigned responsibilities remain current and well controlled. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Month-End Close Own assigned components of the monthly and year-end close processes across multiple entities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and workpapers Perform bank, brokerage, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations and proactively investigate and resolve discrepancies Maintain accurate general ledger activity, fixed asset schedules, and supporting accounting documentation across assigned entities Manage day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, bill pay, and related financial activities for assigned entities, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and processed on a timely basis Maintain clear documentation of recurring accounting processes, entity-specific requirements, key contacts, deadlines, and supporting records to promote continuity and effective knowledge transfer Partner with the Controllers to identify and resolve accounting issues and ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with established policies and procedures Investments & Financing Support Complete and maintain subscription documents, investment records, and supporting documentation for investment and capital activity Track capital calls, distributions, contributions, investment transactions, cost basis, and other relevant investment activity Maintain accurate investment information and supporting documentation within applicable financial and portfolio management systems Gather, organize, and maintain documentation supporting financing arrangements, including commercial and residential real estate, vehicles, lines of credit, and other lending activities Coordinate directly with financial institutions, investment managers, advisors, legal counsel, and other external partners to obtain information, resolve questions, and support timely execution of transactions Reporting & Financial Analysis Prepare and analyze financial statements, spending reports, liquidity reporting, cash flow reporting, and other recurring financial analyses Prepare weekly and monthly financial reporting for review by the Controllers and senior leadership, ensuring information is accurate, complete, and delivered on schedule Analyze financial activity and identify trends, variances, unusual transactions, and other items requiring further investigation or attention Conduct financial analyses and modeling in support of business, investment, financing, and operational decisions Clearly communicate findings, outstanding items, and recommended next steps to the Controllers and other relevant stakeholders Support ad hoc reporting requests, scenario analyses, and special financial projects as needed Family Office & Operational Accounting Support financial administration associated with insurance policies, renewals, premiums, supporting schedules, and related documentation in coordination with internal and external stakeholders Maintain financial records, valuations, invoices, and supporting documentation related to artwork and other significant personal or Family Office assets, as assigned Process invoices and payments and support charitable giving activities and related financial documentation Maintain organized entity-level records and ensure recurring financial, administrative, and compliance responsibilities are completed accurately and on time Serve as a reliable point of ownership for assigned entities and workstreams, proactively tracking open items, deadlines, required follow-up, and dependencies Develop and maintain process documentation for assigned responsibilities to ensure transparency, continuity, and effective cross-training within the Accounting & Finance team Operational & Process Improvement Identify opportunities to optimize, streamline, and automate accounting and operational workflows Support the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial processes Proactively identify process gaps, control risks, or inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions to the Controller Leverage accounting and financial technology to improve accuracy, visibility, documentation, and scalability across financial operations Partner with the Controllers and broader Financial Operations & Investments team to improve the consistency and effectiveness of financial processes across entities Compliance & Special Projects Support annual tax and compliance reporting processes, including preparation and coordination of 1099 reporting and related documentation Coordinate with tax advisors and other external professionals to gather requested information and maintain complete supporting records Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records in accordance with established procedures and retention requirements Handle confidential financial, investment, and personal information with exceptional professionalism and discretion Participate in special projects, operational initiatives, and other accounting and financial responsibilities as assigned by the Controllers, leadership, or Principals What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred CPA preferred ; candidates actively pursuing CPA licensure with relevant experience will also be considered 4+ years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting experience with a Big Four or regional firm is strongly preferred Strong foundation in accrual-basis accounting, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting Experience independently owning accounting responsibilities and managing work from initial transaction or request through reconciliation, reporting, and resolution Experience working across multiple legal entities, accounts, or complex financial structures; experience within a UHNW family office, investment environment, financial services organization, or similarly complex setting is strongly preferred Working knowledge of investment accounting and administration, including capital calls, distributions, cost basis, accrued interest, debt-to-equity conversions, and price-per-share tracking General understanding of business valuations, financial modeling, cash flow analysis, and financial statement analysis Strong systems aptitude and the ability to learn, navigate, and optimize financial platforms quickly Demonstrated ability to maintain complete, organized, and accurate financial records and process documentation across multiple work streams Ability to conduct research, investigate discrepancies, synthesize information, and provide clear, actionable conclusions Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow-through, with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities, recurring responsibilities, and deadlines Proactive, self-directed working style with the judgment to determine when to act independently and when to escalate an issue Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, senior leadership, Principals, and external service providers Strong judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving computer for 8+ hours/day Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements Must be authorized to work in the United States Compensation The expected salary range for this position is $110,000 - $120,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, location, and other job-related factors.
