Accountant Halifax Advisors Lindon, UT Job Details Full-time $21 - $23 an hour 7 hours ago Qualifications Bachelor's degree Attention to detail QuickBooks Accounting Time management Full Job Description About the Company We are a growing real estate investment and management company with a diverse portfolio of approximately 40-50 residential and commercial properties. We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our team and take ownership of the day-to-day accounting for our portfolio of properties. This is a full-time position that will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, tracking income and expenses by property, and providing management with timely and reliable financial information. Position Overview The Property Accountant will be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of multiple residential and commercial properties. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable managing multiple properties and entities simultaneously, and has a strong understanding of accounting principles. This individual will work closely with property management, ownership, vendors, and other members of the accounting team to ensure that all property-level financial activity is accurately recorded and properly classified. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate accounting records for approximately 40-50 residential and commercial properties Record and track rental income, property expenses, operating costs, and other property-level transactions Code and allocate expenses to the appropriate property, entity, and general ledger account Process and record accounts payable and accounts receivable Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts Review tenant and rental activity and ensure income is properly recorded Track property-specific expenses, including repairs and maintenance, utilities, insurance, taxes, management fees, and capital expenditures Prepare monthly property-level financial statements and supporting schedules Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures Investigate and resolve discrepancies and unusual transactions Maintain accurate records for each property and legal entity Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Prepare financial information and reports for ownership and management Coordinate with property managers and other team members to obtain necessary documentation and information Assist with year-end tax preparation and provide information requested by outside accountants Maintain organized and complete accounting documentation Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred 2+ years of accounting experience; real estate/property accounting experience strongly preferred Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close Strong Excel skills Experience working with accounting software and/or property management accounting systems Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to manage multiple properties, entities, and deadlines simultaneously Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities Strong communication and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with residential or commercial real estate accounting Experience accounting for multiple legal entities Experience with property management or real estate investment companies Experience preparing property-level financial statements Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software Familiarity with real estate-related expenses, capital improvements, depreciation, and fixed assets What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work and can keep a large volume of financial information organized and accurate.
