Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to provide strategic financial leadership for a growing organization in the agriculture sector based in Northeast Iowa. This fully remote opportunity calls for a hands-on executive who can strengthen reporting, guide forecasting, and translate financial data into practical business recommendations. The role will partner closely with leadership to support long-term planning, performance analysis, and high-impact operational decisions. You MUST live in the upper Midwest.
Responsibilities:
  • Direct the company's financial reporting framework to ensure timely, accurate delivery of monthly statements, annual budgets, and audit-related materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build forecasting tools, scenario models, and performance analyses that help leadership evaluate future opportunities, operational outcomes, and business strategy.
  • Support corporate finance initiatives such as business valuations, organizational restructuring efforts, and merger or acquisition analysis as needed.
  • Provide financial insight for major business decisions, including capital allocation, asset utilization, leasing versus purchasing considerations, and growth investments.
  • Present clear interpretations of financial and operating results to executives and stakeholders, using data-driven analysis to highlight trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Oversee month-end close activities, including preparation of financial summaries, visual reporting, and production-based performance analysis.
  • Lead accounting operations across journal entries, reconciliations, cash management, forecasting, intercompany transactions, and financial data oversight.
  • Manage core accounting functions covering the general ledger, receivables, payables, fixed assets, and consolidated reporting with appropriate eliminations.
  • Establish and refine financial procedures, strengthen internal processes, and drive continuous improvements in reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Review performance across revenue streams and cost centers, compare results against plan, and communicate meaningful variance analysis to management.
