The payroll clerk will accurately complete weekly payroll tasks in accordance with established practices and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data
Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers
Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests according to company policies and procedures
Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
Maintenance and filing of employee payroll records
All other duties as assigned
Skills:
Strong computer skills with specific experience that includes Excel, Word, Outlook, and accounting ERP systems
Familiarity with payroll software a plus
Strong attention to detail required
General understanding of accounting practices and principles
Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements
Strong ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written communications Experience /
Education:
High school diploma/GED required
Minimum one year payroll department experience preferred but not required
Physical Requirements:
Ability to remain seated for long periods of time in a standard issue desk chair
Ability to tolerate prolonged exposure to computer screens, mobile phone screens Ability to read documents and materials in hard and soft copy form (either naturally or with corrective lenses)
Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments when required
Ability to move from one location to another; within and around locations
Ability to understand the speech of others
Ability to frequently bend to file and maintain files
Ability to occasionally lift 5-10 pounds
Ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident
