Payroll Manager/Controller Location:
Mt Morris, PA Status:
- Full Time/Non Exempt (At-Will)
Purpose:
- The payroll clerk will accurately complete weekly payroll tasks in accordance with established practices and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data
- Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers
- Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
- Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests according to company policies and procedures
- Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
- Maintenance and filing of employee payroll records
- All other duties as assigned
Skills:
- Strong computer skills with specific experience that includes Excel, Word, Outlook, and accounting ERP systems
- Familiarity with payroll software a plus
- Strong attention to detail required
- General understanding of accounting practices and principles
- Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements
- Strong ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written communications Experience /
Education:
- High school diploma/GED required
- Minimum one year payroll department experience preferred but not required
Physical Requirements:
Ability to remain seated for long periods of time in a standard issue desk chair- Ability to tolerate prolonged exposure to computer screens, mobile phone screens Ability to read documents and materials in hard and soft copy form (either naturally or with corrective lenses)
- Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments when required
- Ability to move from one location to another; within and around locations
- Ability to understand the speech of others
- Ability to frequently bend to file and maintain files
- Ability to occasionally lift 5-10 pounds
- Ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident
