We are looking for a Payroll Administrator to join a mission-driven nonprofit organization in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In this permanent role, you will assist with payroll operations with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, and employee service across multiple pay cycles. This position works closely with HR, Benefits, and Finance to support compliance, resolve payroll issues, and maintain confidence in payroll data handling.
Responsibilities:
Process payroll from start to finish for multiple pay groups, ensuring each cycle is completed accurately and on schedule.
Review employee pay updates, tax changes, benefit deductions, and other payroll inputs to confirm complete and correct processing.
Reconcile payroll results, investigate variances, and correct discrepancies before finalization.
Respond to payroll-related questions from employees and internal partners, providing clear and timely resolution to issues.
Administer year-end payroll activities, including support for tax reporting and related documentation.
Manage wage garnishments and other withholdings in accordance with applicable regulations and deadlines.
Partner with Human Resources, Benefits, and Finance teams to maintain compliance and ensure payroll records align across systems.
Safeguard sensitive employee and compensation information while following established payroll controls and confidentiality standards.
At least 2 years of payroll experience, including ownership of full-cycle payroll processing.
Hands-on experience supporting payroll for organizations with approximately 101 to 500 employees.
Knowledge of multi-state payroll practices, including tax withholding and compliance considerations.
Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now and confidence working within payroll systems and reports.
Ability to identify, research, and resolve payroll discrepancies in a high-volume environment.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to meeting processing deadlines.
Experience handling confidential employee information with professionalism and discretion.
