Job Description

PAYROLL SPECIALIST
Morgantown, WV $55,000- $65,000 Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team and take ownership of payroll processing and administration across two companies. This position will manage full-cycle payroll, ensure compliance with payroll tax and regulatory requirements, support timekeeping and union administration, and provide accurate payroll reporting. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of payroll experience, strong attention to detail, and experience working with multi-company payroll. Manufacturing or industrial experience is preferred, with union payroll experience strongly preferred.
OVERVIEW OF THE PAYROLL SPECIALIST ROLE
Payroll Processing & Employee Maintenance – 50% Process full-cycle payroll for two companies, ensuring accuracy and timely completion. Maintain employee payroll records and make necessary updates related to new hires, terminations, deductions, and changes. Administer payroll-related employee maintenance and resolve payroll discrepancies. Process payroll adjustments, garnishments, and other payroll deductions. Reconcile payroll and related accounts to ensure accuracy. Compliance, Taxes, Audits & Reporting – 30% Administer payroll taxes and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Prepare and maintain payroll-related reports and documentation. Support payroll audits and respond to payroll-related inquiries. Manage W-2 processing and regulatory reporting. Monitor and maintain compliance with applicable payroll requirements. Timekeeping, Union Administration & Special Projects – 20% Administer time and attendance systems and ensure accurate employee time records. Support union payroll administration and interpret/apply union contract requirements. Assist with payroll reporting and analysis. Participate in payroll-related process improvements and special projects. Serve as a resource to employees and internal stakeholders regarding payroll and timekeeping questions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE PAYROLL SPECIALIST
High School Diploma required. Associate's Degree in Accounting, Business, Human Resources, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience. Experience processing full-cycle payroll. Multi-company payroll experience required. Payroll tax administration experience. Experience with time and attendance systems. Payroll reconciliation experience. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. ADP Workforce Now experience preferred. Manufacturing or industrial environment experience preferred. #
