Job Description
Clerxi is building a new category of construction technology: a connected operating and risk intelligence platform designed specifically for contractors. Construction companies operate across fragmented systems for project management, accounting, payroll, insurance, compliance, safety, equipment, workforce management, claims, documentation, and executive reporting. Clerxi brings these functions together so contractors can identify problems earlier, preserve critical evidence, reduce risk, and operate their businesses with greater visibility and control. Clerxi was built from firsthand experience inside the construction industry—not from the outside looking in. We are now entering a major stage of commercial growth and are seeking an exceptional executive to help build the company around the product. The Opportunity Clerxi is seeking a Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) with deep experience in construction risk, insurance, or contractor operations to lead our commercial organization and become one of the company's principal executive representatives to the market. This is not a traditional software sales position. We are looking for someone who understands how contractors actually manage risk—including insurance, claims, contractual risk transfer, subcontractor exposure, compliance, safety, documentation, financial controls, and operational risk—and who can translate that expertise into trusted executive relationships. The ideal candidate may currently be a senior executive within a major contractor, construction insurance brokerage, insurance carrier, risk-management organization, or construction-related professional services firm. You do not need to come from a SaaS company. Industry credibility, leadership ability, commercial judgment, and the ability to earn the trust of sophisticated construction executives are more important to us than traditional software-sales credentials. What You Will Lead As Chief Commercial Officer, you will work directly with Clerxi's Founder & CEO and take ownership of the company's commercial organization.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead Clerxi's enterprise go-to-market strategy. Represent Clerxi in meetings with contractors, risk executives, CFOs, CEOs, insurance professionals, brokers, carriers, and strategic partners. Build trusted relationships with large and sophisticated construction organizations. Lead executive discovery meetings and identify the operational, financial, insurance, and risk problems Clerxi can solve. Develop a repeatable enterprise sales process from initial introduction through demonstration, proposal, implementation, expansion, and renewal. Build and manage Clerxi's sales and client-facing organization. Recruit, mentor, and lead account executives and other commercial personnel. Establish professional sales forecasting, pipeline management, account planning, and CRM discipline. Work with the product organization to translate customer and industry needs into commercial priorities. Help develop strategic relationships with insurance brokers, carriers, associations, consultants, and other construction-industry partners. Participate in industry conferences, executive meetings, presentations, and major strategic opportunities. Help establish pricing, packaging, proposals, pilots, and enterprise agreements. Work closely with customer success and implementation teams to ensure that what Clerxi sells is successfully delivered. Develop long-term account strategies designed to expand Clerxi across projects, offices, divisions, and enterprise organizations. Help position Clerxi as a trusted authority in construction risk, operations, and technology. Who We Are Looking For We are particularly interested in candidates with substantial experience in one or more of the following areas: Construction risk management Construction insurance Contractor insurance and claims Construction brokerage Surety and bonding Contractual risk transfer Subcontractor risk and prequalification Workers' compensation General liability and construction claims Builder's risk and wrap-up programs Safety and loss control Enterprise construction operations Construction financial or operational controls Previous titles may include: VP/SVP of Risk Management, Director of Risk Management, Construction Practice Leader, Managing Director, Construction Insurance Executive, VP of Insurance & Claims, Chief Risk Officer, National Construction Practice Leader, Senior Client Executive, or similar senior leadership positions. What Matters Most The successful candidate will have: Significant professional experience within construction, construction insurance, or contractor risk management. Strong executive presence and the ability to command credibility with sophisticated business leaders. Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and influence executive-level decisions. Commercial instincts and a genuine desire to win business. The ability to simplify complex risk and operational problems into compelling business solutions. Experience leading people and building high-performing teams. Strong presentation, negotiation, and communication skills. An understanding of how large contractors evaluate technology, risk, operational change, and enterprise purchasing decisions. The ability to operate effectively in an entrepreneurial environment where processes are being built rather than inherited. High personal integrity and sound professional judgment. A willingness to be hands-on. This is a leadership position, but it is not a ceremonial executive role. Preferred Background Experience working with general contractors, specialty contractors, infrastructure contractors, public works contractors, or large construction organizations is strongly preferred. Experience with construction insurance brokerage, carrier construction practices, claims, surety, risk engineering, or contractor enterprise risk is highly valuable. Professional designations such as CRIS, ARM, CPCU, or
RIMS-CRMP
are valuable but not required. Prior experience with construction technology or enterprise software is beneficial, but not required. What This Role Is Not We are not looking for a traditional technology salesperson whose primary experience is selling generic SaaS products. We are also not looking for someone who wants to simply manage an existing sales department. This person will help build the commercial organization itself. You should be comfortable entering an executive meeting with a major contractor, understanding the company's risk and operational challenges, earning the confidence of its leadership team, and showing them how technology can fundamentally improve the way their organization operates.
