Job Description:

The Opportunity Our client, a well-established owner and operator of premier retail real estate assets in the New York metro area, is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead its accounting and financial reporting function. The company recently welcomed a new CFO and is building out a stronger internal finance operation, reducing reliance on outside accounting support. This is a high-impact, in-office role reporting directly to the CFO, with real ownership over the accounting function during a period of active transition and growth. Note this role works 5 days onsite. What You'll Be Doing Lead the transition from cash-basis to full accrual-basis monthly financial reporting, including designing the close process, closing calendar, and standardized reporting package at both the property and consolidated level. Direct all core accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, cash management, payroll oversight, fixed assets, and multi-entity/partnership financial statements. Oversee commercial real estate specific accounting, including retail lease administration, tenant improvement allowances, and leasing commissions. Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, managing banking and treasury relationships, monitoring debt compliance, and coordinating audit and tax activity with external partners, while supervising and developing a small accounting team. Who You Are 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a senior accounting management role. Experience helping transition an organization from a cash basis accounting environment to an accrual-based model. Hoxton Circle is an equal opportunity employer.
