Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Manager for our Cath Lab to lead and oversee the daily operations of our cardiovascular catheterization laboratory. This pivotal role involves coordinating patient care, supervising nursing staff, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and maintaining high standards of clinical excellence. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, extensive clinical expertise in cardiology and critical care, and proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive management of the Cath Lab team, including supervising nursing staff, scheduling, and performance evaluations. Oversee patient assessments, ensuring accurate physiological evaluations and adherence to clinical protocols. Coordinate and facilitate diagnostic procedures such as cardiac catheterization, angiography, and other interventional cardiology interventions. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state healthcare regulations, HIPAA standards, and accreditation requirements. Maintain proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Epic for accurate medical documentation and coding (ICD-10/ICD-9). Lead quality improvement initiatives focusing on infection control, patient safety, and procedural efficiency. Facilitate staff training on sterile techniques, aseptic procedures, IV insertion, catheter care, and advanced airway management. Monitor clinical outcomes related to critical & intensive care procedures including ventilator management and acute pain management. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, radiologists, anesthesiologists, and support staff to optimize patient care pathways. Manage resource allocation effectively to ensure optimal functioning of the Cath Lab environment. Qualifications Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current state licensure. Extensive clinical experience in cardiology settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers or cardiac catheterization labs. Proven nurse management or leadership experience within a hospital or outpatient setting. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; familiarity with medical documentation standards. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to cardiovascular care, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Experience working with complex patient populations including geriatrics, patients with developmental disabilities, dementia care needs, or behavioral health considerations. Competence in performing venipuncture, IV infusion/insertion, specimen collection/processing, medication administration, and sterile processing techniques. Familiarity with healthcare coding systems such as
ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT
for accurate documentation and billing. Knowledge of hospital medicine protocols including utilization review/management and discharge planning processes. Excellent managerial communication skills; ability to supervise teams effectively while maintaining compliance with nursing policies and long-term care regulations. Demonstrated ability to lead quality improvement projects focused on patient safety and clinical excellence.
