Job Description

Hours Full-time, Monday to Friday 8am-5pm Location Honolulu, Oahu Pay $20 to $28 an hour, Based on experience Responsibilities Responsibilities would include but are not limited to: Prepare treatment rooms and patient exam areas before appointments Assist dentists during procedures by passing instruments, managing suction, and ensuring a clear field of view Sterilize dental instruments, equipment, and work areas to maintain infection control standards Take and process dental X-rays (radiographs) for dentist review Make dental impressions for study models, crowns, and other restorative work Assist with various dental procedures such as fillings, extractions, and oral surgery under supervision Provide patient education on oral hygiene, aftercare instructions, and preventive care Update and maintain accurate patient dental records and clinical charts Schedule appointments, manage patient recalls, and coordinate with the front desk Process insurance claims and handle billing and payment documentation Order and maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment Calm and comfort patients, especially those with dental anxiety Follow all state and practice infection control protocols without exception Work efficiently to ensure smooth patient flow and maximum office productivity
Qualifications CPR Education:
Completion of an accredited dental assistant program (CODA-accredited preferred) OR equivalent on-the-job training Certification ideal but not required: DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA); DANB Radiation Health & Safety (RHS) Exam Expanded Function Dental Assistant experience preferred but not required - may perform advanced procedures with additional training Clinical experience: Hands-on externship or at least 1+ year of dental assistant work experience
