Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use. Assist orthodontists during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and efficiency. Take and develop dental X-rays, including panoramic and cephalometric images, adhering to infection prevention protocols and safety standards. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal results. Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist with medical documentation related to patient health status. Maintain clinical cleanliness by processing dental instruments according to sterilization procedures and infection control policies. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and assisting the dental receptionist as needed. Skills Proficiency in EMR systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar software for efficient patient management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures specific to orthodontics. Experience with dental X-ray techniques, including digital imaging and 3D scanner technology for precise diagnostics. Familiarity with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe clinical environment. Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques for seamless workflow during complex procedures like oral surgery or endodontics. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry considerations when working with younger patients undergoing orthodontic treatment. Understanding of dental equipment operation including prosthodontics tools, medical imaging devices, and dental instruments processing.
