11:00 am - 7:00 pm, Monday - Friday (40 hours per week) Job Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in supporting adults with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. DSPs promote dignity, independence, health, and safety while empowering individuals to reach their goals. This role requires compassion, responsibility, and a commitment to person-centered support. Key Responsibilities Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, toileting (including incontinence care), dressing, and eating. Support individuals with mobility and transfers as needed. Monitor and respond to individual needs with empathy and respect. Escort and support residents to medical appointments, recreational outings, family visits, and community events. Encourage socialization and participation in preferred activities. Administer medications per physician's orders and maintain accurate medication logs. Follow all emergency and disaster protocols. Report and document special incidents, suspected abuse, injuries, or safety concerns immediately. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in accordance with health and safety standards. Accurately complete daily documentation, data collection, incident reports, and medication records in accordance with Title 17 and Title 22. Maintain calendars for medical appointments and agency visits. Communicate regularly with the Regional Center, day programs, and other support professionals. Participate in the development and implementation of Individual Program Plans (IPP) and Individual Service Plans (ISP). Deliver training and support aligned with each resident's goals and behavioral support plans. Assist with meal preparation according to posted menus and individual dietary needs. Enforce house rules and routines to ensure structure and consistency. Notify management of broken equipment, hazards, or needed repairs. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Have a valid California Driver License and acceptable DMV driving record. Must obtain DSP I certification within 6 months of hire (per Title 17). Must obtain CPI Certification within 6 months Must obtain negative TB clearance before the first day of the scheduled shift Must obtain Live Scan clearance within the first 30 days Must complete health screening At least 1 year of personal or professional experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health needs, especially those with behavioral challenges. Active First Aid and CPR certification required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Frequent standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, and kneeling. Work may involve exposure to bodily fluids and occasional driving or travel. Must be at least 21 years of age to drive on behalf of Highpointe Care.
