Mercy of God Adult Residential Facility is seeking dependable, compassionate, and patient Direct Support Professionals/Caregivers to support adults with developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will be attentive, reliable, and comfortable assisting residents with personal care, behavioral needs, medical routines, mobility, and daily living activities. Staff members must treat every resident with dignity, respect, patience, and compassion. Responsibilities Supervise and support residents throughout the assigned shift. Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, diaper changes, and other personal-care needs. Prepare meals and assist residents with eating when necessary. Assist with G-tube feedings and G-tube care after completing the required training. Administer medications according to physician instructions and facility procedures. Accurately complete Medication Administration Records and other required documentation. Support residents who experience aggression, self-injurious behavior, property destruction, or emotional outbursts. Use approved redirection, de-escalation, and crisis-prevention techniques. Follow each resident's Individual Program Plan, behavior-support plan, medical instructions, and emergency procedures. Monitor residents closely to help prevent injuries, falls, wandering, and medical emergencies. Assist residents with transfers, mobility, positioning, and safe walking. Transport or accompany residents to medical appointments, community activities, and outings when assigned. Encourage residents to develop independent living, communication, household, and social skills. Complete accurate shift notes, behavior logs, medication records, and incident reports. Immediately report injuries, medication errors, unusual behaviors, suspected abuse, and medical concerns to management. Complete assigned cooking, laundry, cleaning, and sanitation duties. Communicate professionally with residents, families, coworkers, service coordinators, and healthcare providers. Attend required staff meetings and training sessions. Protect residents' rights, safety, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality. Qualifications Previous caregiving, Direct Support Professional, behavioral-health, or residential-facility experience is preferred. Experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities or challenging behaviors is helpful. Must be dependable, punctual, patient, observant, and able to remain calm during challenging situations. Must be able to follow written care plans, medication instructions, and facility procedures. Must be willing to complete required criminal background clearance, health screening, CPR/First Aid certification, and facility training. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are preferred. Must be willing to work assigned weekends, holidays, evenings, or overnight shifts when needed.
