Friday Weekday Daytime Personal Care Assistant position available for Female 31-year old wheelchair user, in Spring Valley. 12 hour position Monday
Thursday 9am-9pm Friday 9am-5pm All State/Federal Overtime Laws apply We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Weekday Personal Care Assistant to provide exceptional support for a 31-year-old female wheelchair user.
This vital role involves assisting with daily activities, ensuring safety, and promoting independence in a respectful and caring manner. The ideal candidate will bring energy, patience, and a proactive attitude to help enhance the quality of life for our client. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference while working in a supportive environment that values your skills and commitment. ABOUT THE CLIENT
Exceptionally smart, makes her own life decisions, her own appointments, manages her own schedule, yet requires 24/7 PHYSICAL assistance in her own home. Lives alone with 24-hour physical assistance Has a rear-entry wheelchair accessible minivan which the Personal Care Assistant (PCA) will drive wherever client needs/chooses to go. Her mother will assist in the hiring & training process. The client, however, manages her day-to-day responsibilities /interactions/schedule with her Personal Care Assistants staff. (Her mother is always available for questions, more training, etc.) While attending San Diego City College, completed her AA, majored in Spanish, with a 3.95 GPA.
PAY RATE
approx. $20
23/ hour, depending on qualifications, availability for Weekday Schedule, reliability, and references.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum age 21 years old Valid current driver's license, excellent driving record, and proof of auto insurance Original Social Security Card & /or Birth Certificate or Passport. Must be legally authorized to work in United States Pass FBI background check. MUST be able to physically transfer & assist client

She can weight bear with assistance, (it is NOT a dead weight or full weight lift at all) PCA's will receive extensive training in the specific transfer techniques. Assist her to stand, position her into her wheelchair; then assist her to lie down again later when she is ready. Showers 2-3 times a week. Complete sponge baths other days. We teach exact easiest method, so both of you remain safe. MUST be willing to learn the specific technique for transferring her, how she loads/unloads in her wheelchair into her rear-entry accessible van, when she goes out in the community, most efficient shopping methods and storage in van. Even if you have done many of these tasks/skills with clients or family members before, one of the primary keys to success in this position, is to be adaptable, flexible and willing to learn another routine, even for mundane tasks, and to use the best practices which have proven to be most effective in this young woman's life.

Regularly Assist with basic personal hygiene needs: brush hair and put into easily manageable style for wheelchair, change her pull-up regularly, shower, or sponge bathe daily, brush teeth, dress, ( give her choices) fix healthy meals, Lunch/dinner and snacks she prefers, keep hydrated, Administer AM / midday medications. Monitor health status by taking vital signs, observing condition, and reporting any changes promptly
to the client first.
Help make appointments as requested to do, conduct internet research, check Facebook, etc.
Daily Housekeeping:
keep kitchen and bedroom clean, vacuum house daily—some laundry, and clean whatever used during day in kitchen (plates/cups/dishes/pans) and put away before your time to leave. Always clean kitchen counters with anti-bacteria wipes. Keep house in organized manner. Trash/Recycling/Green Waste goes out on Mondays, late afternoon/early evening. Must clean out refrigerator every Monday before trash/greenwaste/recycling go out. Bring bins back in on Tuesdays after pick-up. Drive her to do what she prefers / needs to do : errands, pick-up prescriptions, go to grocery stores, out to lunch, go have FUN. Out for adventures... Genuinely care about her, be her friend. For every part of this job, the caregiver will be trained extensively until comfortable with all responsibilities. Will only observe first day, then begin actually doing /practicing different parts of the position with assistance until ready to take over on your own. Her mother will be in the area for 10 work days to train how the PCA can be most effective, and teach all the best practices developed with this young woman.
