Job Description
Schedule:
35 Hours/Week (5 days a week, 8-hour shifts including a 1-hour unpaid break)
Location:
Centreville, VA (Moving from Herndon, August 3rd) About Me I am a 44-year-old active, independent individual who values authenticity and connection. I'm not looking for a clinical, sterile experience; I'm looking for a partner in independence. I need someone who sees themselves as more than just a staff member—think of this role as a "big sister" or "big brother" who helps me navigate my daily life with humor and teamwork. I'm incredibly laid back, value great conversation, and prefer a relaxed environment where we can work as a team. While I am ambulatory, I am living with chronic health conditions that require substantial support. As the eldest of four sisters, I am naturally "the capable one," and I sometimes struggle to ask for help even when I need it. You will need to be the person who patiently reminds me—with kindness and a sense of humor—that we are a team working together to keep me safe and healthy. What You Can Expect This is a role for someone who is comfortable with a "real life" environment. My household is friendly and very pet-friendly. You will occasionally be meeting "Zeek," a 100lb Pitbull who is a harmless, baby-at-heart companion I share with a friend. Additionally, I am currently in the process of preparing for a Service Dog who will eventually be a full-time, 100% constant companion for me (expected arrival mid-to-end 2027). You must be comfortable working in a home where pets are a core part of the family dynamic. If you are looking for a strictly "in-and-out" task-based job, this probably isn't the right fit. I'm looking for someone who doesn't mind an occasional medical appointment, some downtime watching TV, or helping me maintain my independence with a smile. I'm looking for a friendly, optimistic personality—someone who truly wants to make a difference while we share the day-to-day.
Core Responsibilities Companionship:
Engaging in conversation, exploring hobbies, and attending events.
Daily Living Support:

Accurately logging and signing for services rendered at the time they are performed per DMAS/Commonwealth requirements. Requirements Must be 18+ with a valid SSN and legal authorization to work in the U.S. Ability to clear a background check (no convictions for barrier crimes). Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license (my home has a dedicated space). Comfortable working in a home with dogs. Current CPR certification is a plus.
Note:
Personal care attendants are not permitted to perform advanced medical tasks like tube feedings or medication administration. How to Apply I am looking for a long-term fit who is excited to build a rapport with me. Please reach out if you are ready to be a teammate, a helper, and a friend. Let's discuss how we can work together to maintain my independence safely and happily.
