Work as a quality control laboratory team member responsible for hands on benchtop analysis of inorganic materials. Primary responsibility is performing the direct analysis of products, and unknown materials, as dictated by laboratory SOP's, while making use of the appropriate laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Laboratory Technicians have a proven history and experience in wet chemistry and physical testing knowledge as well as a wide range of using laboratory testing instruments.
Schedule:
Monday- Friday 8am - 4:30pm (1st shift)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Testing of raw materials, finished products (ex. precious metals in powders and flakes), as well as refining assays.
Analysis is conducted within parameters specified in standard operating procedures (SOP'S), and following
ISO 9001
guidelines.
Proven working knowledge and understanding covering several of the following instrumentation/techniques; ICP-OES, AAS, Ion Chromatography, Auto titration, Manual Titration, Moisture Content, Loss on Ignition, Fire Assay, Gravimetric Analysis, Particle Size Determination, Surface Area, Sieve Testing, NDIR Carbon and Oxygen Analysis, SEM, XRD, XRF, Acid Digestion.
Lead and assist the analysis of wastewater.
Record results in data management system according to laboratory procedures.
Follow analysis timelines as instructed by Lab Manager
Report unusual or unexpected results to Lab Manager.
Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation, perform troubleshooting, occasional repair, or assist the vendor with repairs.
Ensure consumable materials are stocked and available as needed for analysis.
Cover any area of testing required in the laboratory when required or called upon.
Work with Quality Control and R&D Scientists to assist in method and product development.
Assist in training new employees.
Administration of
ISO 9001
quality system.
Work within safety guidelines provided by EHS team.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Associates degree with coursework in Chemistry required; bachelor's degree preferred.
A minimum of seven years of professional experience in a testing-oriented laboratory for a is required.
Wet Chemistry and physical testing knowledge is required.
Demonstrated skill with general laboratory techniques including but not limited to preparing dilutions, balance verification, balance usage, reagent preparation, auto pipetting, and vacuum filtration.
Additional quality control testing experience is preferred.
Proficiency using Microsoft 365, Adobe PDF is required. Familiarization with and the ability to learn a wide range of instrument specific software is a recommended. Familiarization with Minitab, and control charting is a plus.
Ability to follow method specific SOP's precisely is required.
Ability to lift 40 lbs.
