Overview:
The Laboratory Manager is responsible for maintaining process chemistry and performing certain product quality tests where chemical analysis is required. The Laboratory Manager may have Laboratory Technicians reporting to him. The Laboratory Manager may assign tasks below at his or her discretion Perform equipment calibrations and verifications. Wastewater Treatment pH probes. Analytical balances. Make and test AAS standards. Change and Soap Test the Acetylene tank. Reorder immediately. Autoburette maintenance and calibration. (2) pH meters Micro Lab 600 Diluter maintenance and calibration. Prepare reagents used in chemical analyses. Complete " 1st Thing in the Morning " Procedure.
Perform analyses on prescribed frequency:
pH Titrations Occluded organics. Maintain journal. Tin purity. ROHS Plating baths and parts themselves. Record analytical results as required. Paper records Excel spreadsheets Maintain organized files of analysis worksheets and analytical reports Generate add list. Make additions to process tanks. Package samples to be sent out for analysis Tin, SnPb bath additives Performance test Finnpipetts, Diluter, Conductivity meter, AAS, AutoBurette Base and Exchange units. Order laboratory and production chemicals. Maintain an organized chemical storage area. (8 hrs/week min.) Fill out monthly storm water sheets. Calibrate, maintain & run Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS), using the Diluter. Prepare
RCCRA & TRI
inventories. Prepare analytical reports sheets, for the next morning. Operate UV-Vis Spectrometer (instructions provided). Calculate and add tin additives. Monthly MCUA pH (Journal). Perform precious metals inventory (gold, silver, palladium as applicable). Perform hull cells as needed. Perform gold usage analysis (Mass Balance) for each product daily. Enter results in applicable tracking system. Research and Development. Analyze and maintain Boiler Chem. Tank and Feedwater Chem. Tank. Fill loose piece production orders. Test and maintain Au back strippers, overall and edges. Fill the Hydrochloric Acid bottles. Analyze "Final Rinse" samples, for Pb, Ni, Cu, to prevent bath contamination. AAS Analyze WWT composite samples before submitting to Accredited Labs. AAS Measure conductivity Line 4 Final Gold rinses. Email Conductivity Report. Sign and submit monthly
MCUA SMR
reports (prepared by ESS). Sample and level plating baths daily, when necessary. Inspect/tag BIO-Clinical Phosphoric Acid drums for contamination (salts) Put away WWT drums. Change the TOTES. Perform "Ready for next time analysis". Pump/rebalance Nickel and Copper baths, when necessary. Tonnage Report. South Plainfield. Make new plating baths. Repair/rebuild plating baths when necessary. Repair/rebuild Autoburet exchange units. Make new Silver bath, Line 2, when necessary (2-3 times/year). Take inventory sample of line 4 Au feeder.
Inventory :
Analyze AAS Au baths, Au reclaims, Silver bath. Take Au Feeder sample, and submit form. Responsible for
ISO 9002
Master Calibration list (Issue Date 10/31/05) Prepare paper files, beginning of the month. Clean. Prepare for
ISO 2024
Recertification Safety and training. This position requires a strong knowledge of basic math skills. Knowledge of algebra is also required. Basic Microsoft Excel knowledge Chemistry degree preferred, but not required. #
