We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Scribe to join our team in the sub-acute unit at St. John's Hospital, Camarillo , supporting our pulmonary providers with accurate and timely medical documentation. Position Summary The Medical Scribe will work alongside pulmonary providers in the sub-acute unit, documenting patient encounters in real time. This role is essential to improving provider efficiency, ensuring accurate medical records, and supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care. This role offers invaluable hands-on exposure to the medical field, giving you a front-row seat to the daily life of a medical professional and providing a significant advantage for your future medical career. Responsibilities Accurately and efficiently document provider-patient encounters into the electronic health record (EHR). Record patient histories, physical exams, assessments, treatment plans, and follow-up care as directed by the provider. Review and update patient charts, ensuring completeness and compliance with regulatory standards. Support providers in maintaining organized and up-to-date medical documentation. Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to facilitate smooth patient care. Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in compliance with HIPAA. Qualifications Certificate of Completion in Medical Terminology course - required. Prior experience as a medical scribe or in a clinical documentation role strongly preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology, particularly in pulmonology and critical care. Strong typing and computer skills with experience using EHR systems. Excellent listening, organizational, and multitasking skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment with attention to detail. Commitment to patient confidentiality and professionalism.
