Role Description The Certified Behavioral Assistant will provide in-home behavioral support to children and youth ages 5-19 and their families in Irvington, NJ. This part-time, on-site role involves implementing individualized behavior support plans, modeling effective strategies for caregivers, and reinforcing positive behaviors in daily routines. The Behavioral Assistant will collaborate with clinicians, family members, and school or community partners to monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed. Responsibilities include documenting sessions, tracking goals, and maintaining clear, timely communication with the treatment team. The role also requires maintaining professional boundaries, adhering to agency policies, and ensuring services are delivered in a respectful, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive manner. Qualifications Behavioral support and intervention skills, including implementing behavior plans and using positive reinforcement strategies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with youth, caregivers, and multidisciplinary team members. Ability to observe, assess, and document behaviors, progress toward goals, and family needs in a clear and organized manner. Skills in de-escalation, crisis response within scope of role, and maintaining a calm, supportive presence under stress. Capacity to work independently in the home environment while following clinical guidance and agency protocols. Experience working with children and youth with behavioral or emotional challenges, preferably in community or home-based settings. High school diploma or GED required; coursework or degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field preferred. Current certification or eligibility as a Behavioral Assistant as required by state or agency standards. Reliable transportation to travel to client homes in Irvington, NJ and surrounding areas, and flexibility to work afternoons, evenings, or weekends as needed.
