Job Summary
The Lead Sobering Center Technician provides structure, direction, and training for Sobering Center Technicians under the supervision of the Sobering Center Manager and the Program Director SUD North Bend. The Lead Sobering Center Technician also provides core Sobering Center Technician duties in addition to oversight responsibilities.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license to travel between facilities
Preferred:
Two years or more of active recovery and involvement in a twelve-step program or experience in the substance abuse/addictions field.
A sociology, psychology, medical assistance background.
Mental Health Peer Support or Certified Recovery Mentor Certification.
Experience and/ or education in the areas of crisis intervention, de-escalation methods, chemical dependency, and social or community services.
Bilingual.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Admit sobering clients by conducting the following: test blood alcohol levels, complete urine analysis testing, observe for other chemical influences, check blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen levels, respiration rate and blood sugar
Complete pertinent paperwork and create or utilize existing files to document the above information and the following: identity, personal and medical information, client property, and any actions taken regarding the admission of the client.
Monitor clients while in sobering rooms for signs of movement, breathing, seizure, withdrawals, delirium, tremens, statements or acts of self-harm, also for signs of dehydration and hunger, providing water and/or food when appropriate.
When discharging sobering clients: test blood alcohol levels, return property, make appropriate referrals, close client file, sanitize mattresses, blankets and sobering room, sweeping, and mopping sobering rooms and cleaning toilets, etc.
Monitor all client activities and behaviors and report all abnormalities to of the Sobering Center Manager.
Assist individuals lodged at the Sobering Center with activities of daily living as appropriate.
Responsible for security and safety of all individuals in the Sobering Center.
Required to facilitate initial procedures for admission, including completion of required forms, telephone screenings, releases, collection of initial assessment and recommendations for treatment planning.
Documentation {in daily log) of pertinent information related to facility operations or compromises of the welfare of the clients.
Conduct hourly checks of building(s) during the shift to assure safety rules and regulations are being adhered to and all facility systems are running and properly documented, i.e., refrigeration and heating.
Facilities maintenance: Sweep & mob lobby floors, clean and disinfect surfaces and equipment, wash windows, empty trash, clean and maintain work areas, restrooms, laundry room, entryways, sobering rooms.
Ensure shift coverage that may require occasional mandatory overtime.
Other duties as assigned.
