Mercy is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Intern to support diagnostic imaging services within our Healthcare & Medical Services team. As part of the Internships department, you will work alongside experienced nuclear medicine technologists to assist with radiopharmaceutical preparation, patient positioning, imaging procedures, and radiation safety practices. You'll gain hands-on experience with advanced imaging technology while contributing to compassionate, patient-centered care. Responsibilities Assist nuclear medicine technologists with preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals under supervision Perform patient positioning and basic imaging procedures following safety and regulatory protocols Support radiation safety practices including contamination checks and proper handling/disposal of radioactive materials Prepare imaging rooms, equipment, and supplies, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for procedures Collect and document patient information, medical history, and procedure data in electronic systems Monitor patients during and after procedures, promptly reporting changes to supervising staff Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment under guidance Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support accurate diagnosis and patient-centered care Participate in educational in-services, case reviews, and skills training sessions Adhere to Mercy policies, HIPAA, and all applicable state and federal regulations Required Skills Nuclear medicine imaging procedures Radiopharmaceutical handling Radiation safety and protection Patient positioning and immobilization Operation of gamma camera/PET systems Electronic medical records (EMR) documentation Venipuncture and IV access (under supervision) Infection control and aseptic technique Basic life support (BLS) Quality control of imaging equipment
