Community Residential Alternative (CRA) Group Home Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and dependable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) / Medication Technician (Med Tech) to join our team at a CRA group home located in Fairburn, GA . The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of CNA experience , experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) , and demonstrated experience with diabetes monitoring and insulin-related care . This position requires someone who is attentive, compassionate, dependable, and comfortable assisting individuals with both their daily living needs and healthcare-related support. Key Responsibilities Provide direct care and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene. Assist with mobility, transfers, and other personal support needs. Administer and document medications in accordance with Med Tech training, physician orders, agency policies, and applicable regulations. Monitor blood glucose levels and accurately document readings. Provide insulin-related assistance or administration when authorized, properly trained, and within the employee's permitted scope of practice and agency protocols. Recognize signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia and follow the individual's healthcare plan and emergency procedures. Monitor residents for changes in health, behavior, or condition and promptly report concerns to the appropriate supervisor or nurse. Follow Individual Service Plans (ISPs), healthcare plans, behavior support plans, and other prescribed care instructions. Maintain accurate daily documentation, medication records, glucose monitoring records, and other required documentation. Assist residents with meals and follow dietary instructions, including diabetic dietary recommendations when applicable. Support residents with community activities, appointments, and transportation as assigned. Maintain a clean, safe, respectful, and supportive home environment. Follow infection-control, safety, emergency, confidentiality, and incident-reporting procedures. Promote residents' dignity, independence, rights, choices, and community inclusion. Minimum Qualifications Current CNA certification . Medication Technician (Med Tech) training/certification appropriate for the position. Minimum of 2-3 years of CNA/direct-care experience . Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) strongly preferred. Hands-on experience with blood glucose monitoring and diabetes care . Experience with insulin-related care and familiarity with diabetic emergencies. Ability to accurately follow medication orders, healthcare plans, and documentation requirements. Strong observation, communication, and documentation skills. Dependable, professional, patient, and able to work effectively in a residential setting. Ability to respond appropriately during medical or behavioral emergencies. Must meet all agency and regulatory requirements for employment in a CRA residential program. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working in a CRA group home, residential facility, or other I/DD setting . Current CPR/First Aid certification. Experience completing Medication Administration Records (MARs). Experience documenting blood glucose readings and following diabetic care protocols. Familiarity with behavioral support plans and person-centered care.
