Position Purpose Under the general supervision of the Elementary School Principal, Preschool Director, and Nursery Team Lead, to assist in providing loving, attentive, and developmentally appropriate care for infants and young children; to support a safe, clean, nurturing, and Christ-centered classroom environment; and to assist the Nursery Teacher in meeting the physical, emotional, social, developmental, and spiritual needs of each child in accordance with the mission, values, policies, and standards of Providence Christian Academy. Essential Functions Assists the Nursery Teacher in providing loving, attentive, and age-appropriate care for infants and young children. Maintains active supervision of children at all times and follows established staff-to-child ratios. Assists in maintaining a safe, nurturing, clean, organized, and welcoming nursery environment. Assists with established routines for feeding, diaper changes, naps, and other daily care activities. Responds promptly and appropriately to children's physical, emotional, social, and developmental needs. Provides comfort, encouragement, and reassurance to children as needed. Assists with age-appropriate activities that encourage children's physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and developmental growth. Supports the incorporation of age-appropriate Bible stories, songs, prayers, and biblical principles into the nursery environment. Helps establish and maintain consistent daily routines that provide children with a sense of security, comfort, and belonging. Assists the Nursery Team Lead and Teacher with preparing and organizing classroom materials, toys, activities, and supplies. Maintains appropriate professional boundaries with children and families. Follows all school policies and procedures related to child supervision, health, safety, sanitation, allergies, medications, illness, emergency procedures, and child protection. Assists with ensuring that children are released only to authorized parents, guardians, or designated individuals in accordance with school procedures. Assists with maintaining accurate attendance, sign-in/sign-out, daily activity, incident, and other required records. Communicates promptly with the Nursery Teacher and Nursery Team Lead regarding student needs, concerns, incidents, or other matters requiring attention. Develops and maintains positive, professional, and respectful relationships with parents and guardians. Communicates appropriately with parents when directed by the Nursery Teacher or Nursery Team Lead while maintaining confidentiality. Maintains confidentiality regarding students, families, employees, and other school-related information. Assists with cleaning and sanitizing toys, surfaces, changing areas, equipment, and frequently used materials. Assists with monitoring classroom supplies and communicates needs to the Nursery Teacher or Nursery Team Lead. Works cooperatively with the Nursery Teacher, Nursery Team Lead, and other nursery staff to provide consistent care and supervision. Supports classroom routines and follows the direction of the Nursery Teacher and Nursery Team Lead. Participates in staff meetings, professional development, training sessions, and school events as required. Completes and maintains required training, including CPR, First Aid, mandated reporter training, and other school-required professional development. Follows the school's employee handbook, policies, procedures, and established chain of command. Provides exemplary customer service to students, parents, faculty, staff, and visitors. Demonstrates flexibility and a willingness to assist with the needs of the nursery and school. Performs other duties related to the care, supervision, and support of children as assigned. Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Nursery Teacher, Nursery Team Lead, Principal, Early Childhood Director, or other designated administrator.

Ability to follow established childcare procedures and school policies consistently. Ability to recognize and appropriately respond to children's physical, emotional, social, and developmental needs. Ability to follow directions and work effectively under the supervision of the Nursery Teacher and Nursery Team Lead. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information. Ability to demonstrate Christian character and serve as a positive role model for children, families, and employees. Ability to demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist wherever needed. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Works in a nursery and school environment requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, sitting on the floor, and lifting or carrying young children and nursery equipment. Must be able to respond quickly to the physical and safety needs of children and to emergency situations. Work requires sustained attention, patience, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in an active childcare environment.
Certification / License
Infant/Toddler CDA is required to be obtained by each teacher. Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred; required within a designated period of employment if not currently certified. Completion of required mandated reporter training. Additional childcare or early childhood certifications preferred. Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related coursework preferred. Experience Previous experience working with infants and young children preferred. Experience in a nursery, preschool, childcare, classroom, or early childhood educational setting preferred. FLSA Status Exempt
