Part-Time About Cognitive Diagnostic Associates CDA is a multidisciplinary independent evaluation practice specializing in Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) for students with disabilities. CDA conducts comprehensive forensic and educationally focused assessments across school related domains under IDEA and California special education law. We do not provide direct therapy services. Our role is to independently evaluate students, analyze educational programming and needs, and develop comprehensive legally defensible reports and recommendations. Position Overview CDA is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in school based practice, educational evaluations, sensory integration, and special education systems. This is not a traditional clinic or therapy position. The Occupational Therapist will function as an Independent Educational Evaluator responsible for conducting comprehensive OT assessments for students with disabilities, analyzing educational access and functional performance within the school setting, observing in the school environment, and preparing detailed written reports with educationally relevant recommendations. The ideal candidate understands school systems, special education eligibility and programming, and how occupational therapy impacts educational access, sensory regulation, attention, behavior, fine motor functioning, executive functioning, adaptive skills, and participation within the school environment. This role requires a confident evaluator who is comfortable independently analyzing complex cases and who is able and willing to participate in IEP meetings, mediations, and due process testimony when necessary. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations for students within educational settings under IDEA and California special education law Review records including psychoeducational reports, IEPs, service logs, teacher reports, behavioral data, and prior assessments Conduct school observations and analyze the student's functional performance across educational environments Administer and interpret standardized and non-standardized occupational therapy assessment tools Evaluate sensory processing, sensory integration, fine motor skills, visual motor integration, adaptive functioning, self regulation, executive functioning, classroom participation, and school related occupational performance Prepare comprehensive, organized, and legally defensible written evaluation reports with educationally relevant recommendations Attend virtual and in person IEP meetings to present findings and recommendations Collaborate with multidisciplinary evaluators including psychologists, speech-language pathologists, educational specialists, and behavior professionals Participate in mediations and due process proceedings if needed Maintain professional documentation standards and timelines Preferred Clinical Background Strong understanding of sensory integration and sensory processing needs within school environments Experience with students with autism, ADHD, emotional regulation challenges, learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, and complex behavioral profiles Experience conducting school based occupational therapy evaluations rather than solely clinic based or medical model treatment Ability to critically analyze whether school based supports, accommodations, services, and programming are appropriate and sufficient Qualifications Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy Active California Occupational Therapy license Minimum of 3 years experience within school based occupational therapy or educational evaluations preferred Experience writing comprehensive educational evaluation reports Strong knowledge of
