Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract Make an impact as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist in a supportive environment working with students with visual impairments from 2nd grade through high school. This rewarding contract opportunity runs from late July through May, offering a chance to help learners gain greater independence and confidence across a variety of school settings. Here's what the position entails:

Key Qualifications:

Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) with current certification through ACVREP Valid GaPSC teaching credential required Previous experience working with visually impaired students within a school environment preferred Strong communication skills and a collaborative, student-centered approach Ability to work comfortably onsite across multiple school locations

Role Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction to visually impaired students on orientation and mobility techniques, tailoring lessons to IEP goals and student needs Empower students to safely and confidently navigate school environments and community settings Assess skills and develop individualized student plans; monitor progress and update goals as needed Collaborate with teachers, IEP teams, and guardians to optimize student pathways for growth Independently set your weekly schedule, balancing O&M needs and student academic activities
