Primary Accountability:

The OTR is responsible for the evaluation and management of patients and their plan of care as well as providing treatment to help patients develop and maintain their ability to complete everyday tasks related to their daily life.\n

Major Duties:

\nIs responsible for Initial Evaluation and follow-through of care.\nEvaluates/assesses all orders for Occupational Therapy.\nConsistently carries out and is knowledgeable in all modalities and/or therapies appropriately and within given policies and procedures.\nMaintains and cares for equipment in a knowledgeable and careful manner.\nWill re-assess or re-evaluate any patient/client weekly if the Certified Occupational Therapist is involved in the plan of care.\nAppropriately documents all progress reports for treatments within departmental policies and procedures.\nIs involved in overall care of patient/client for Occupational Therapy.\nIs responsible for discharge of patient/client in consideration of achievement of goals, expected outcomes, the lack of ability to progress, or no longer benefiting from skilled Occupational Therapy services.\nAssists with quality initiative/quality improvement plans.\nFollows procedures to ensure supplies are used in an efficient manner to avoid waste.\nAttends continuing education seminars that will improve the ability to care for our patient/client population.\nConfers with members of the Physical Therapy staff and other health team members to exchange, discuss and assess patient information for planning, modifying and coordinating treatment programs.\nPerforms various clerical tasks, such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering the telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms.\nMeasures patient's range of motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of body parts as well as the effects of special treatment.\nSeeks feedback from patients/customers to identify any areas of improvement.\nTransports patients from room to department if necessary.\nAssists in developing and participating in various programs in educating Gove County Medical Center staff.\nHelps maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly fashion.\nWorks conscientiously and efficiently. Is concerned about overtime and does not exceed time allowed for lunch or other breaks.\nMaintains records of each patient including diagnosis, treatment, progress, record of attendance, time in and out, and summary.\nCovers other facilities for occupational therapy and oversees the COTA at Gove County Medical Center and other facilities.\n

Qualifications:

\nMust graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program and be licensed in the practicing state.\nClinical experience during schooling.\nEmployment experience as on OT is preferred, not required.\nMyofascial experience is preferred, not required.\nMust be BLS certified within 60 days of hire.\n

Physical Demands:

\nEye/Hand, Eye/Foot and Hand/Foot Coordination.\nNormal eyesight, with or without corrective lenses.\nNormal hearing, with or without hearing aids.\nMotor coordination and manual dexterity.\nThe ability to bend, stoop, crawl, and kneel.\nThe ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.

Work Environment:

\nWell-lit/well-ventilated work area; close visual work.\nProlonged amount of sitting, standing and walking throughout the day.\nSubject to frequent interruptions.\nMay be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.\nMeet and talk with a wide variety of employees, visitors and patients.\nExposure to unpleasant elements such as accidents, illnesses and injuries.\nAble to work under emergent situations as necessary.\nRequires judgement/action in life/death situations.\n
